Our goal is to create a cultured IB community that focuses helping our students become responsible, service oriented, respectful, compassionate, and international minded individuals. We will accomplish this goal if we focus on the 4Cs (Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration). Share one thing that you are currently doing at King Middle, based on the 4Cs, to create a cultured IB community.
We will continue our focus on the learner profile of Caring. If you have any questions about MYP, do not hesitate to email me or reply on this blog. Your question(s) may benefit someone else.

This week in Social Studies class, Mr. Suarez and I encouraged students to use creativity on Entrepreneurship projects. They were advised to use any Thinking Map of their choice to display/present the life and characteristics/traits of a famous entrepreneur. Their thinking map had to display product or service, costs and method of production, and the market served. Students were very enthusiastic about completing and orally presenting their finished products! Creating a cultured IB Community is our top priority!

Ms. Weaver, as the Business Education Teacher here at King, I am SO excited to hear that your students used creativity to develop and present an Entrepreneurship project! In my classes, students will soon be taking a closer look at the concept of Entrepreneurship, so it is great to know that they've already been creatively introduced to this popular business concept and career! - Mrs. M. That's great to hear Weaver! I'm also interested in how the rollout of IB will take place in Language Arts as well as how the kids will respond to the new program.

Dr. Davis, Please check out the teacher resources section. You will find the Language and Literature Guide. Get familiar with the guide as we will begin to plan with the coaches units soon.

At the end of this month my teammates and I in LC 4, have decided that we will have the students vote during advisory on which one of their classmates are displaying the learner trait of the month (ie: Caring) the best. Once we have the votes in we will display a certificate of the award and a picture outside of our respective classrooms and/or our LC bulletin board. This incentive will further implement the IB learner traits on a daily basis because their peers and teachers are going to be watching and reminding each other of the learner trait of the month.

Mr. Suarez, I think that's a great idea. The Learner Profile is the heart of the IB framework. We want to explicitly teach them to our students. It is great that your team will acknowledge and incentivize your students.
