The MYP units seem to be designed to shift a student's view of how they see themselves, and helps them to define their own purpose in a global context. Different students require different motivations, therefore motivation has to be individualized.

From the very first day of school, the students and I discussed taking ownership of their educations. Because of this, students are now better equipped in the knowledge that we are working to create a personal brand so that they can compete in a global economy and ever changing world.

As we worked through Section 5 of the Second Step textbook and resources, it was clear that students are able too identifying when someone is being bullied or being treated differently from others. As such, they discussed various methods of how to comfort and support any student who faced any issues surrounding bullying of any form.

I personally try to encourage the students to take responsibility for their actions and their goals. I try to convert their "I'm giving them" mentality into an "I earned" mentality. Children that hold themselves accountable tend to understand that accomplishing their goals is in their hands and that really no one can stop them from achieving as long as they are ambitious and motivated.

The learner profile for the month really goes great with this blog. Our students are becoming better at reflecting to change their mindsets into becoming the successful students that we know they are.

I can really see the reflective learner profile working on the students. They really reflect on their actions before making their next decision.

Encouraging my students that if they just put forth an effort then they will have some type of success through trial and error. Inquiry based learning allow students to begin thinking for themselves.
